The Migraine

If only he knew that day’s outcome;
That his migraine so intense, would make him ignore the alarm’s sound;
That he’d be heavily traffic-bound on his way to work;

That he’ll get in the boardroom and see seated, his expectant colleagues and superiors;
Only to realise he’d left out his presentation files from his briefcase at home while rushing;
Consequently seeing a rival colleague take the spot-light with his partially humoring speech;

If only he’d known earlier and decided to call in sick;
That he’ll live to describe such day as one to recall for long;
Yet, if he had to face such day once more;
He wouldn’t decline because he knows the tough days make the great ones even more glorious.
